Day 13 - Interior BC and Squilax Hostel 2008 Summer Road trip to Northwest USA and Canada Trip duration: 15 days (May 9th to 23rd) Total distance: 9000km/5560miles
Almost at the end of the road trip, back inside Canadian borders and familiar grounds. I've stayed at the Squilax hostel once before back in 2006 and I found it such an interesting place to be... Train car caboose as sleeping quarters, llamas, dogs, beavers, house boat, camp fire... it's just totally quirky :D I even printed out a bunch of pictures from 06 and gave it to the owner. She really liked them :)
Anyway, here goes... 2nd last day of the trip :)
Lucka what? hah
Blasting up the hill in the Cooper
Then something drew my attention...
A cute black bear! It seemed to be very hungry, or maybe those leafs/grass were really yummy...
I'm guessing it's about 300lbs or so, not huge
But I didn't have the urge to get out of the Mini either, after seeing those teeth :P
It curiously looked at me while I snapped more pictures.
"warrrh, go away you little human before I eat you for breakfast!"
More crappy weather in the mountains
But the roads were fun from Princeton to Hope Hwy :)
Well fun until I get slowed down by these "pace cars" anyway
That's a pretty big boat.
In central BC's Gray Monk winery, buying some ice wine :)
It was a beautifully warm day, wish I could drink right there... but I had to drive on :P
Twisties by the lake
Red wine, ice wine...
White wine
And here it is, the Squilax hostel... sitting by the side of the highway and looking like nothing anyone want to stop for
Funky hostel :D
The owner lady showing the New Zeland dude some website on the funky laptop
Funky goods
Funky lounge :P
Starting a little camp fire as night falls
Next up: Camp fires, best pancakes in the world, home...
