Western USA Road Trip Picture Diary: Day 5 - Great Salt Lake
Trip duration: 15 days (May 9th to 23rd)
Total distance: 9000km/5560milesThe new sun hasn't yet risen
World of purple and blue
Peace requires no special reasons
As long as false expectations are few
A new day is enough reason
For me to keep loving You
Great Salt Lake, predawn, May 2008The night before, I missed my stop, I slept in the car, then I woke up at 5
I drove out to the lake, hoping for a sunrise
Wishing for a great day
And a feast for my photographic eyes :)
And a feast I did get
Birds, flowers, rocks, the blue lake, the golden sun, it was gorgeous
Not even one other human soul
No other strangers on the road
Just me and the morning cold
Just peace of the type seldom told
I realized how hungry I was, while watching the birds have their breakfast... I kept thinking, after the sunrise, I'm going straight to a Mcdonalds for breakfast... Yes I will...
But no, I didn't :P I ended up eating chocolate bars in the car, hah
Glide, the world's for you to fly
Fly, swift and free with pride
It's coming, that long awaited sunrise
Look at the mountain tops
Dressed in morning pink
Beautiful colors without inkIt's coming, my beautiful sunrise
Oh, let the calmness overwhelm me
Let nature set my heart free
Let me indulge in this beauty I see
Let me lose myself
Let everything be
I remembered my friend Karen while taking this photo, she always liked these sunflare shots :)
I couldn't help but smile, and indulge in this scene of peace and beauty
So beautiful, and devoid of humans, I loved it :) I love being in places where there are no others to bother me, just me, and peace.
And then the sun came over the cloud tops
And then my breathing and my heart both stopped
A world so beautiful I was afraid my camera would drop
Life felt wonderful... I wished time would temporary stop
The saturation of morning scenes are incredible. The blue sky lighting up the shadow side, the pink orange sun lighting up the other... There's a reason why most beautiful landscape pictures are taken during sunrise/set.
The lake smelled like a bit like a stale rotten sea... looks better than it smells, for sure
I'm going to print this out and put it on my wall. What an incredibly beautiful scene, lovely :)
MINI, dog, tree
Right behind the marina was this industrial plant with a huge stack. I can only assume it's a salt processing plant?
Greeting that beautiful morning sun together :)
Such beautiful orange feathers... Everything was just glowing in this gorgeously clear sunrise
Loved the reflections... the mountains looks so small :)
Downtown Salt Lake City... Looks like little toys :D Little toys for big boys
After the sun's up, I drove back to Salt Lake City in search of a Wi-Fi spot to chat with my dear Li-Ann :) Stopped on the hill here overlooking downtown Salt Lake City
Tah tah, beautiful SLC.Next: on the same day, Arches National Park, Canyon Lands National Park

"photographic eye" eh,

I like the mountain and ocean photo; very serene looking :3

mmm i like the word sunflares....
yeah i remember Us talking on those days =]
you have a beautiful mind, a beautiful soul ...
(today, we had typhoon no. 8, everything's wet and dard, so nice to look at all these beautiful picturess, thankss ....)
@flashlivesforever_29 - hah You do? :)
Tho the sunrise was pretty
My heart still wasn't at ease
Without You, my dearest hunny
Where will I find such beautiful peace? :)
@killthoseclowns - firstly, thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos as much as I did! It was such great fun to be there...
The camera used was a Canon 40D, I used a 12-24mm lens for that one I said I'll print and put on the wall. But that's actually a stitched panorama, 3 shots at 12mm. So yeah, it is very wide angle indeed, covering just a touch over 180 degrees.
The shot of the mountains was done using a longer zoom, shot at 140mm. I guess it looks the way it does just because of the strong visual effects created by the morning shadows :)
really really so beauty and nature
so admire you!
This is an amazing view from your soul. I've only dreamed to be able to place pictures to my poems and by reading and looking at your work I feel inspired to paint. Allow creativity to wash over my senses. Continue to radiate beauty and IT'S WONDERFUL!
That picture you said you were going to put up on your wall...is there any way I can put it up on my wall?
Those were beautiful sunrise shots.. I also love the light at this time of the day, so soft
Did you get to see the Salt Flats? People go out there to test their cars top speed all the time..It's awesome. It's pretty close to that plant stoke you saw.
@eucharis12 - oh darn, I didn't go there. That would have been fun :D
@XtremePsionic - I went there for the first time about a month ago and it was pretty cool..it looks like snow, but it's just salt and sand...miles and miles of it! With some pretty mountains in the background.
Breathtaking work!
